In 2000 MJD Systems was formed by Mark & Jill Dunscombe in response to local demand for quality network management and troubleshooting at a fair price.
We started to expand further in 2003 and the following years employing our first additional engineer, Craig in 2011. He brought skills and expertise which augmented Mark’s and allowed us to increase our offering to existing and new clients. We recruited our third engineer Ian in 2013, to help us continue to deliver on the high demand for our services and growing client list.
We soon outgrew the office of our beginnings in 2014 and moved into our first multiple office building. Our first apprentice IT Engineer, Gareth, joined us in 2014 and began our relationship with Developing the Young Workforce initiative. Due to the success of this initiative, we took on our second apprentice, Marko, in 2016.
In 2017 Natalie joined us as Business Development Manager allowing us to develop our services and business expansion plans. We expanded into our current larger offices in 2016 to allow for the further growth of the business, this is where you can find us today in Spey Bay alongside the beautiful beach and golf course.
As was the same for a lot of businesses around the world when the 2020 pandemic came we moved to working from home, and we found this worked extremely well for the business and the team. So much so we have continued to use a work based from home approach to this day. We still have the workshop and an office down at Spey Bay to continue our hardware repairs from.
In 2022 we welcomed Louise into the role of dispatcher to help us continue to improve the quality of the service we provide to our clients. In 2023 Kieran joined our team as an Apprentice IT Engineer and completed his apprenticeship to become a Systems Support Engineer and has been a great addition to the MJD team.
In 2024 we have welcomed Ethan Clark to our team as our new Apprentice IT Engineer and Wayne McNicoll has also joined the MJD team to help with maternity cover in the business development and telecoms areas of the business as our Client Account Manager. We look forward to supporting and sharing in their successes with us here at MJD.
I love watching F1 and also travelling back home to Wales to any International Rugby Match I am fortunate enough to get tickets for, I am also heavily involved in supporting my local rugby club Moray RFC and love to watch either of the teams playing whenever I can. I’m a family man and like to think our family values reflect positively on the way we run our business. I also enjoy spending time with Jill and our newest family member Flora.
Outwith work I can usually be found playing, training or walking little Flora, a Miniature Schnauzer, our new addition to the family. I also enjoy spending time working in our garden together when the weather allows.
I’m lucky to live in a fantastic part of the world and I spend my free time outside where possible. This always tends to be something that involves my family , be it football, rugby, walking, cycling or swimming, however, on the rare occasion I’m not with them I can be found playing with my car.
In my downtime I love to go running and enjoy raising money for local charities at the same time. When I’m not out running you can usually find me with my camera, a craft project in hand or working on our new garden.
Outside of work I enjoy walking our black Cocker Spaniel, Rosie, and can be found along with the other dance mums at various highland dancing competitions around Scotland with my dancing daughter. I also enjoy listening to modern Traditional Scottish Bands.
Life is always busy, but in my downtime I love to spend time with my family and friends. You will often find me enjoying long walks along the coastline with my dog or baking up a storm in the kitchen creating cakes and bakes for all to enjoy.
Having moved back to the Moray area 15 years ago to be with family and friends and to enjoy the fantastic surroundings and way of life, I also discovered very quickly that I do in fact like Single Malt Whisky with about 25 distilleries in very close proximity – I still haven’t tried them all yet!
I enjoy playing rugby for Moray RFC, watching rugby on the television at the weekend and also going to support my local rugby club Moray RFC in Elgin, and partaking in the celebrations after. I have an interest in cars, and like to look after my car in my spare time, as well as watching motor sports on TV, or if lucky in real life.
When not working happy to be out training and playing rugby with Moray RFC or sitting at home gaming and experimenting with my own PC.
When I’m not working, I enjoy playing games on my PC and collecting console games, old and new.
Outside of work I’m kept busy attempting to entertain my two young children and attend to all my domestic duties.
When I do have some down time (very rare), I will spend this either playing video games on the PlayStation / PC or by relaxing on the sofa watching the latest film or TV series, with a nice whisky and beer in hand of course!
In my spare time I enjoy watching or attending football matches. When I’m not watching football, I’m either socialising with friends or gaming.
Having been promoted to Main Dawg (well over due I’ll tell you) I keep the canine team in line and oversee their work. Management suits me perfectly! When I get tired in the office I still like to curl up on any desk with my cushion. However, a keyboard or mouse are surprisingly comfy. I love to go on walks and go exploring through the woods or along the beach.
Working for home is the life for me, access to all my toys and all my beds at any time of the day, pawsome! Just don’t tell Flora! I still keep everyone smiling with my zoomies and goofy smiles. When I am not working I love to go for a run or walk through the woods and practise my tricks and puppy puzzles to relax in the evening.
While at work I help the team by catching all the phish trying to jump into the PCs, it’s great fun! I am highly trained to sniff out potential intruders and point these out to my hooman to help with the cyber security. When I am not working I love exploring on walks and keeping a sharp eye on any birds. But I do know how to chill and love nothing more than to finish the day with a cuddle with my hooman and mini-hoomans.
I am a dab hand at fixing PCs and laptops in the workshop, I sometimes manage to get them fixed before my hooman can get them out of the van into the workshop! When I am not assisting my hooman at work I love to support him at his rugby matches, they are a great place to make new doggie friends and get lots of scratches from the other spectators.
I work hard to wagging the wifi networks with my hooman to make sure everyone can keep connected, which is hard work! But I am an expert at making a bed out of anything no matter how small, I can fit into a surprisingly small space. At the end of the day I love to go out for a long walk with my hoomans and burn off the last of my energy before crashing on the sofa to sleep.
During the working day I work my paws off to make sure the canine team gets all their work done at the right time, but most importantly has all their essential nap and treat breaks. When I am not hard at work I love going for walks with my dog mum and snuggling down in a comfy bed.
